Alan George viola - Heather Tuack cello
The Fitzwilliam Quartet has been celebrating forty years, with founder member Alan George still there. The Fitzwilliam Quartet was the first anywhere to record the Shostakovich cycle for Decca and played to the composer in York prior to their three year residency at Warwick University 1974-77.
Shostakovich was a pupil of Glazunov and the concert also keeps the Haydn bicentenary celebrations going.
