The brilliant young Chinese pianist Chen Chen launches the new season with a mainly Romantic programme that climaxes with the suite from Petrouchka, with which he won the first ever Leamington Music Prize earlier this year. Since then he has won the Advanced Postgraduate Prize at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Di Xiao, a Symphony Hall Rising Start, is another outstanding Chinese pianist who has come to Birmingham Conservatoire. Last winter season saw her play in twelve leading European concert halls ranging from the Concertgebouw Amsterdam to the Wien Konzerthaus in Vienna.
