An exhibition of drawings and paintings based on Leamington Music concerts from Winter 2007 to Spring 2009.
Friday 1 May to Tuesday 5 May 2009
at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa
This is my second exhibition as Artist in Residence with Leamington Music. The work shown is inspired by many of the wonderful Leamington Music concerts in the last two years.
Small groups of musicians, string quartets in particular,
have been a fascination for many years ever since one weekend
in 1988 when all the Haydn quartets were performed non stop
at the Barbican in London. In a discussion about the part played
by the audience during a performance, a visiting musician said 'After
the first few bars I am "In the music" '.
I have taken this as the theme for the exhibition.
To view paintings from my last exhibition see Jane Williams pages at the AMA website.

Having the opportunity to attend rehearsals has been fascinating – every rehearsal is different, and nothing like the performance. Some of the work refers to rehearsals and some to the performance itself.
Leamington Music is a registered charity number 1117723 that was launched in July 2006 and aims to maintain Leamington and district as a musical centre dedicated to promoting excellent music.
Music-making at an international level like this can only be put on and sustained by the generosity of our supporters and if you would like to be involved in ensuring that Leamington Music continues to flourish please join the Friends of Leamington Music or contact us directly.
