From October 2010 to May 2011 Leamington Music embarked on a trial Education Project in schools and youth groups in Kenilworth, Leamington, Leek Wootton and Warwick, giving pupils with or without any musical experience the opportunity to learn and experience music making on a wide range of classical instruments.
During this period visiting artists for the Programme included Morgan Szymanski, Kosmos, The York Waits, Elias String Quartet, Eclipse, Ensemble 360 with master-classes from Peter Cropper and Moray Welsh, giving superb opportunities at the highest level for over a thousand children.
The success of this trial was amazing! The responses we received were all overwhelmingly enthusiastic and we are now committed to an annual Education programme.
The coming winter season will see further expansion of the Leamington Music Education Programme. This involves artists who are appearing in concerts during the season giving workshops and master-classes.
Starting off with a three day visit from I Flautisti, the London Recorder Quartet 12-14 October, further contributions will come from Joglaresa, Lawson Piano Trio, Doric String Quartet, Ensemble 360, Peter Cropper and James Boyd of the Ludwig String Trio and Calefax. In the Music in the Round series in early 2012, there will be three Family Concerts aimed at 2-11 year olds and those involve the Lawson Piano Trio, Ensemble 360 and Calefax. The sessions mostly take place in Warwick and Leamington, but Kenilworth and Rugby are also involved.
Leamington Music is particularly grateful to the County Music Service and Warwick School for their support of the Programme.

We appeal to teachers and those who organise musical activities for young people to make contact as we want to offer the Programme to a broader range of children and to spread our activities beyond Warwick and Leamington.
We also appeal to those reading this page, who can help raise further funds, through trusts and individual donations, to make contact.
