The twelfth Leamington Music winter season is again built on the monthly string quartet and early music series in Leamington and Warwick. The Investec International String Quartet Season has six quartets that have all performed here before. With quartets from the USA, Hungary, Russia and Romania, plus two British ones that include Dutch musicians, it’s not just the high standard that earns the word international.

The BAXI Early Music at St Mary’s Season provides a journey through some five hundred years of music, with old favourites like Ex Cathedra, The York Waits, Joglaresa and The Bach Players joined by upcoming young groups, the recorder quartet Palisander and The Gesualdo Six. See on the next page, where there are, as for the string quartets, subscription details.

The third concert of the season is a fund-raising one and we are very grateful to Raphael Wallfisch who for a second time will play all the Bach Cello Suites in St Mary’s Warwick. There are three Christmas concerts, the Mellstock Band returns to the Lord Leycester Hospital and The York Waits to St Mary’s in Warwick and the Carice Singers perform in St Mark’s Leamington.

The Royal Spa Centre plays its part in the season, with the winners of the 2017 Leamington Music Prize, the Avesta Saxophone Quartet on 23 November, Ensemble 360 returning on 11 February with a new Paul Rissmann work for the Family Concert, followed by an afternoon of Brahms and to end the season, the Schubert Ensemble of London, on its final tour before retirement after 35 glorious years, serves the Trout on 18 March. Please join us and enjoy the full six months feast!
